Not As Advertised, Part Two

10CC – I’m Not in Love (1975)

They cracked in half with the departure of Kevin Godley & Lol Creme after just four albums, and then took a more user-friendly turn, but in their halcyon days, 10CC was one of the wildest, funniest, nastiest, most sardonic, sarcastic, off-the-wall acts during a decade that produced a ton of them.

Queer, then, that their signature song would be – not One Night in Paris, not Iceberg, not The Worst Band in the World, not the crazed, jaw-dropping I Wanna Rule the World – but a treacly gush of a love song written for middle-aged dads in 1975.

Seriously, if you want to introduce your kids to this band, play this song first. But play it backward and at double-speed. With sampled farting noises.
